Why I hope Trump's America Fails

Since the election I have openly stated that I pray for an absolute failure of the Trump Administration, and I have received some adversarial response to that position. I have been asked if I understand that a failure of this administration would mean wide-scale suffering of people, and to that question I write this response.

I am fully aware that a wholesale failure of our incoming administration will result in suffering for millions of Americans, however, I am also aware that a success of this administration will result in the suffering of millions of Americans as well. This administration is the epitome of the Kobayahsi Maru for America, meaning a test that has no possible solution. So for those who think me cold-hearted for wishing for the failure of this administration, I must ask you a few questions.

Have you spent hours in AIDS hospices watching people die a slow and painful death, alone because their families abandoned them, or because there were no laws in place to allow life-partners to make important decisions, or in some cases even sit with them and hold their hand as they died? Have you looked into the eyes of the young man who is living on the streets, dying from an illness he contracted because he was forced to prostitute himself on the streets so he could eat because his parents disowned him for being gay? Have you walked down the street in fear of being beaten because your hand accidentally brushed against the hand of the person you love? Have you endured the mental anguish of being ridiculed and beaten for being different? Have you sat with tears rolling down your cheeks as you listened to countless names of people you know being read aloud at an AIDS quilt memorial? Have you had your adopted sister tell you that you were not welcome to ever see your nieces and nephews because her homophobic husband won’t allow her “diseased faggot” brother near his children? Have you ever had an illness that made you so sick that your doctor was forced to tell you a common cold would kill you? Have you had to endure the suffering of medications that made you so ill that your body wasted to nothing but skin and bone because you could not hold down food? Have you suffered side effects of medications like Avascular Necrosis (short for Bone Death) that causes the bones in your bones to painfully die and decay? Have you looked in the eyes of the person you love and started to cry because you can’t openly show the world how much you love them like others can?

So you ask me if I understand how many people would suffer if the new administration fails? I can only submit that all of the questions I just asked you, are actual experiences that I have survived in my life. Each and every one of those questions are real life experiences for me, and millions of Americans just like me. You may think that I am heartless when I say that the suffering of millions of Americans is nothing more than collateral damage, but millions of Americans have been collateral damage for decades already, and maybe, just maybe those who have been lucky enough to avoid being collateral damage need to experience what it is like to be in the same place as those of us who have been there all our lives.

No, I am not cold-hearted, in fact, my heart will break for every human being who suffers in the what will hopefully be the most epic administration failure in American history. My heart will break for them, including those who would chose to deny me of the most basic of civil and human rights. But I assert that today, if there cannot be equality in freedom, civil, and human rights, then there must be equality in suffering. If there cannot be an America where everyone can thrive and live without fear, then there must be equality in the loss of the American dream.

For those of you who have not experienced wholesale suffering, I can only say that it does get better, but only after decades of losses, only after years of living in fear and witnessing horrors that will keep you awake at night. I do not wish this upon you, for in all honesty the life I have lived I would not wish upon anyone. But I did not support this. I did not support an administration and policies that would directly impact my life by removing all the protections that have been fought for over decades. But you did. You supported this. You chose to vote for an administration that would divert funding from AIDS research to Conversion Therapy. You chose to vote for an administration that has put into power men who have spent entire careers opposing equal rights. You chose to ignore the blatant discriminatory nature of the people you cast your vote for, so it is only fitting that you share the suffering that you chose to impose on me, my friends, my family, and the millions of others like me.

So to finally answer your question, yes, I am fully aware of the suffering you may soon be forced to endure, and I will fight to my last breath to help ensure this administration fails at every turn when it comes to the repression of civil and human rights. I already have skin in the game; I have for decades. Now I want to see your skin in the game as well. I want to see just how far and hard you are willing to fight for your own basic rights and survival. I want to see how well you sleep at night when you are forced to face the atrocities of being second class citizens. I know I will sleep just fine, for I have had many years of practice, and through it all, I am still here.

Will you be?

A history of violence towards the LGBTQ Community in America since Stonewall.

A history of violence towards the LGBTQ Community in America since Stonewall.

The horrific attack in Orlando killing 49 people and injuring 53 in June 2016 has led to a considerable amount of debate over the ideology of why the attacks happen. Various opinions have surfaced, with the predominant being that of “Radical Islamic Terrorism”. I will attempt to disavow this notion by detailing all of the reported attacks on the LGBTQ community since the Stonewall Riots in 1969.

We start four years after the infamous police raids that prompted the Stonewall Riots. The same year the LGBTQ community celebrated the fourth Gay Pride. From there we take a chronological journey through the violent history of assaults in the LGBT Community and the grim details involved in each case.

June 24, 1973 – The Upstairs Lounge in New Orleans – An arson fire killed 32 people – This crime was never solved (Towerload, 2016). This case remains open and police do not anticipate a resolution. This was the worst attack on a gay bar in the United States until the Orland attack at Pulse on June 11, 2016.

November 18, 1980 – The Ramrod bar in Greenwich Village – Ronald K. Crumpley opened fire outside the bar. Crumpley believed gay men were agents of the devil who stalked him and tried to steal his soul. His father who was a minister believed that Crumpley may have been a homesexual himself. (Towerload, 2016)

April 28, 1990 – Uncle Charlies in Greenwich Village – A pipe bomb set off by El Sayyid A. Nosair injured three men. Nosair, a Muslin Radical was accused and convicted of this crime. In a report from the New York Times that he objected to homosexuality on religious grounds. (Towerload, 2016)

July 04, 1991 – Heaven Bar in Houston - Jon Christopher Buice attacked and killed Paul Broussard after he and nine of his friends attempted to gain entry into several gay bars in Montrose. Buice and two other friends were attacked with multiple weapons, including a nail-studded board, a knife, and kicked with steel toed boots. (Towerload, 2016)

February 21, 1997 – Otherside Lounge in Atlanta – Five people were wounded when a nail-laden explosive device was detonated by Eric Rudolph – he wrote in a statement that “like other humans suffering from various disabilities homosexuals should not attempt to infect the rest of society with their particular illness.” (Towerload, 2016)

September 22, 2000 – The backstreet Café in Roanoke – One person was killed and six injured by Ronald Gay, who earlier in the evening asked for directions to a gay bar so he could “shoot some people”. Gay stated that it was his mission to make all gays move to San Francisco to end the AIDS crisis. Lt. William Althoff quoted Gay as saying “he was shooting people to get rid of faggots.” (Towerload, 2016)

July 30, 2006 – San Diego Gay Pride – Six men were attacked by four men; James Carroll (24), Lyonn Tatum (18), Kenneth Lincoln (24) and a unnamed Juvenile who was only 15. All six men survived the attack, however every bone in Oscar Foster’s face was broken requiring reconstructive surgery. Witnesses testified that the assailants used anti-gay slurs as they attacked the victims with baseball bats and knives.

May 16, 2007 – Brew’s bar in Greenwich Village –Sean William Kennedy was assaulted by 19-year old Stephen Moller. Kennedy was punched so hard by Moller that it severed his brain stem, killing him. Moller fled the scene to obtain medical treatment for his hand, and afterwards left a voice mail on one of Kennedy’s friends phone saying “You tell your faggot friends that when he wakes up he owes me $500 for my broken hand!” (Towerload, 2016) He received a sentence of only five years, which was reduced to three because he was a father.

March 07, 2008 – Snuggery’s Bar in New York – Lance Neve was attacked by Jesse D. Parsons because Neve refused to shake his hand when he stated “I’ve never shaken a gay man’s hand before” (Towerload, 2016). Neve survived the attack but was treated for a fractured skull, nose, left eye socket, upper jaw bone, and blood on the brain (Towerload, 2016) During the trial, Parsons was quoted as saying “he didn’t mean to hurt Neve as badly as he did, Neve deserved it.” (Towerload, 2016)

September 07, 2008 – be Bar Nightclub in Washington DC – Randolph Hunter was beaten to death by Robert Hannah. Hannah was only sentenced to 6 months in jail and ordered to pay $50 dollars in court costs (Towerload, 2016)

March 01, 2009 – Robert’s Lafitte Bar in Galveston – Lawrence Henry Lewis III, Lawrneil Henry Lewis, and Alejandro Sam Gray threw bricks through the windows injuring two men. The worst injured was Marc Bosaw who received 12 staples in his head. Lt D.J. Alvarez stated that the trio hurled homophobic insults, and later told police that their intent was to target homosexuals (Towerload, 2016)

April 11, 2009 – Old Timer’s Tavern – Gloucester, MA – Justin Goodwin was attacked by Jonathan Chadwick and William Chadwick. Earlier in the evening at least five men yelling anti-gay slurs approached Goodwin, his sister and her boyfriend. Shortly after the bouncer at the bar escorted the three victims out the back door into the alley and locked the door behind them. (Boston.com, 2009; dreamindemon, 2009) Goodwin suffered severe injuries in the attack, which included broken jaw, nose, cheekbone and eye socket. His injuries were so severe that he lost sight in his right eye and hearing in his right ear (Boston.com, 2009; dreamindemon, 2009). Goodwin committed suicide two years after the attack (Towerload, 2016)

October 02, 2010 – Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village – Police state an unidentified man was attacked and beaten in the bathroom by Matthew Francis and Christopher Orlando. Francis allegedly yelled “Get away from me faggot. I don’t like gay people”. He then demanded money from the victim and he and pushed him to the ground and punched him several times in the face and chest (Brunswick, Deborah, 2010). During this time, it was reported that the Orlando, the second assailant held the door to the bathroom closed, preventing the victim from leaving (Brunswick, Deborah, 2010). Later Francis refused to apologize to the victim stating “I’m not going to apologize because I don’t know what I should be sorry for” (Towerload, 2016).

October 08, 2010 – Latin King Goonies Attack in New York – a 17-year old gay teen, a second teen and a 30-year old man wear attacked by members of the Latin King Goonies street gang (Long, Coleen, 2010; BET, 2010). Acfording to police the unidentified 17-year old teen was taken to an empty apartment, stripped, beaten, and sodomized with a wooden plunger handle (Long, Coleen, 2010; BET, 2010). During the attack the assailants were reported to be yelling anti-gay insults and questioning him about an alleged relationship with the 30-year old victim (Long, Coleen, 2010; BET, 2010). During the attack, the 17-year old victim confessed to his relationship and provided information on the 30-year old victim’s whereabouts. Shortly after the assault, the assailants arrived at the 30-year old victim’s home and discovered another teenage male who also allegedly had a relationship with the older victim (Long, Coleen, 2010; BET, 2010). At approximately 8:30 p.m. the second teen was assaulted and the older male who arrived an hour later to find the teenager tied to a chair opposite the 17-year old male who was assaulted earlier (Long, Coleen, 2010; BET, 2010). One of the teens was forced to burn the older male victim with cigarettes, and the assailants beat and sodomized with a small baseball bat (Long, Coleen, 2010). During the attack other assailants from the gang attacked the another older male in the home and stole approximately $1,000.00 in cash, and a 52-inch television (Long, Coleen, 2010).

October 17, 2010 – Ty’s bar and Julius bar in Greenwich Village – Multiple people were attacked by Frederick Giunta. During the attacks, Giunta as stated to be “hurling anti-gay remarks” (Towerload, 2016). In the same month, at the Rainbow Dove Bar in Leicester City, England a man sprayed Russel Banks with liquid fuel and threw a lit match on him, resulting in third degree burns over 20 percent of his body (Towerload, 2016).

June 01, 2014 -  R Place in Seattle – Two men were murdered at gun point by Ali Muhammad Brown. Brown confessed to the killings and was quoted as stating the “murders were a bloody crusade to punish the U.S. Government for its foreign policies.” (Towerload, 2016)

October 01, 2014 – Salon Bar in Minneapolis – Wayne Odegard shot a man at outside the bar after seeing them kissing. Odegard admitted to police that he screamed “fucking Faggots” before shooting one of the men, and that “seeing two men kissing pisses him off”. He was also quoted reciting a passage from Deuteronomy (Towerload, 2016).

March 22, 2016 – Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village – A transgender woman was groped and raped by an unidentified assailant in the bathroom claiming he only needed to wash his hands.

April 08, 2016 – Attack in West Hollywood – Corey Stedman was attacked by three unnamed men armed with a knife and gun as he was on his way to visit a friend in the early morning hours (Towerload, 2016). Stedman, who states he is not a homosexual, and an experienced boxer, received a broken nose and jaw in the altercation (Wehoville, 2016)
June 11, 2016 – Pulse Bar in Orlando – 49 people were shot to death and 53 more suffered gunshot wounds when Omar Marteen entered the club armed with an AR-15, numerous rounds of ammunition, and at least one handgun. The detaisl of this case are still being investigated by the leading hypothesis is that Marteen was a tormented individual who was plagued by a severe religious fanatic hate towards himself from being homosexual. Marteen was also killed at the scene. (Jacob, Julia, 2016)

June 11, 2016 – Gay Pride in West Hollywood – 20-year old Wesley Howell from Indiana was arrested by local police after discovering three assault rifles, high-capacity magazines, ammunition, and a 5-gallon drum of chemicals that could be used to create an explosive device. Residents contacted police to report a suspicious person walking around in the early morning hours (Shyong, et al., 2016). This case is still under investigation, however Howell has a known history of gun charges, and was a homosexual (Shyong, et al., 2016)

A comparison of deaths and injuries of assault and non-assault style weapons.

Hypothesis

The amount of dead and injured in the United States involving both Assault Firearms and Non-Assault Firearms shows that between the date range [as suggested] of 2004-2016 indicates that more deaths and injuries resulted from the use of non-assault style firearms.

Research data as provided
Sample #1
Congressional Research Service - July 30, 2015.
Date range of Study: 1999-2013
Research study Date Criteria: 1970-2013
Sample #2
Deadly Mass Shootings Chart
Referenced Date Range: 1984-2016
Study Research criteria - UNKNOWN
Sample #3
Washington Post - June 12, 2016
Date Range of data - 2012 -2016
Data Criteria - Mass Shooting Casualties and Injuries resulting form use of Assault Weapons

Argument

The amount of deaths from assault weapons is statistically higher. Using the provided samples, and extrapolating date ranges of the studies to reflect actual date ranges in which both forms of firearms are used, and the death/injury figures as outlined in the samples.

For subject #1, we will use the following two (2) criteria from the study, which is exactly within the date range requested by the submitter.

Subject 1:
four (4.1) incidents per year during the 2000s (6.4 victims murdered, 4.0 wounded per incident), the figures are as follows;

Deaths - 4.1*6.4 = -26.24
Injuries - 4.1*4.0=-16.4
Combined Total 26.24+16.4=42.64

Subject 2:
four (4.5) incidents per year from 2010 through 2013 (7.4 victims murdered, 6.3 wounded per incident), the firgures are as follows;

Deaths - 7.4*4.5 = 33.3
Injuries - 6.3*4.5=28.35
Combined Total - 28.35+33.3=61.65

For Sample #3 we will use the totals from the reduced date range of 2012-2016 as follows;

Deaths - 14+12+28+49=103
Injuries - 53+20+58+2=133
Combined Total - 103+133=236

Argument for Sample #2.

For sample # 2 we will use all of the data form the chart,  including three dates 1984 (1), 1986 (2), and 1991 (3), which are noted as being outside the submitter's requested date range of 2004-2016, we are able to provide irrefutable data that supports the argument.

Extrapolating the data from this chart took more time because the chart itself lacked content to easily pull. Using the locations and death/injury counts, I was able to extrapolate the figures based on the hypothesis criteria.

Sample #2 extrapolated AW Weapons as follows;
Deaths - 14+12+28+49=103
Injuries - 53+20+58+2=133
Combined Total - 103+133=236

 Sample # 2 extrapolated Non-AW Weapons as follows;
Deaths - 32+13+13=58
Injuries - 17+32+4=53
Combined Total - 111

Note again that sample #2 includes incidents in chart that took place prior to 2000 (1984 (1), 1986(2), 1991(3)). The data for these incidents is as follows;

Dead - 57
Injured - 45
Total Invalid entries- 102

Research and Supporting Data

Now we move on the actual data research. For this we will use multiple data sets for comparison. We will use the figures from the samples and the criteria for the research as outlined in the hypothesis and the argument.

Sample 1, subject 1:
four (4.1) incidents per year during the 2000s (6.4 victims murdered, 4.0 wounded per incident)

Deaths - 4.1*6.4 = -26.24
Injuries - 4.1*4.0=-16.4
Combined Total 26.24+16.4=42.64

Sample # 3 - Assault during 2012 - 2016

Deaths - 14+12+28+49=103
Injuries - 53+20+58+2=133
Combined Total - 103+133=236

Sample 1, subject 1 results shown in a negative figure

Deaths - 26.24-103=(-76.76)
Injuries - 16.4-133=(116.6)
Combined Total - (-76.6)-(-116.6)=(-193.2)

Sample #1 criteria 1 results
Using the criteria of data set 1 from sample 1 and comparing to sample 3 shows a difference of 76.76 more deaths, and 116.6 more injuries equaling a combined total of 193.2 higher totals of deaths and injuries for assault weapons over non-assault weapons.

Sample #1 subject 2:
four (4.1) incidents per year during the 2000s (6.4 victims murdered, 4.0 wounded per incident)

Non-Assault style weapons

Deaths - 7.4*4.5 = 33.3
Injuries - 6.3*4.5=28.35
Combined Total - 28.35+33.3=61.65

Sample # 3 - Assault during 2012 - 2016

Deaths - 14+12+28+49=103
Injuries - 53+20+58+2=133
Combined Total - 103+133=236

Sample 1, subject 1 results shown in a negative figure

Deaths - 33.3-103=(-69.7)
Injuries - 28.5-133 = (104.5)
Total Combined - (-69.7)+(-104.5)=(-174.2)

Sample #1 criteria 1 results
Using the criteria of data set 2 from sample 1 and comparing to sample 3 shows a difference of 69.7 more deaths, and 104.5 more injuries equaling a combined total of 174.2 higher totals of deaths and injuries for assault weapons over non-assault weapons.

For Sample 2 provided, I will use the figures only from the chart as follows;

Sample #2 extrapolated AW Weapons as follows;
Deaths - 14+12+28+49=103
Injuries - 53+20+58+2=133
Combined Total - 103+133=236

 Sample # 2 extrapolated Non-AW Weapons as follows;
Deaths - 32+13+13=58
Injuries - 17+32+4=53
Combined Total - 111

Sample 2 results shown in a negative figure [Not including figures from 1984(1), 1986(2), 1991(3), which are outside the suggested date range]

Deaths - 58-103=(-45)
Injuries - 53-133=(-80)
Combined Total - (-45)-(-80)=(-125)

Sample #2 criteriaresults
Using the criteria of Sample 2 shows a difference of 45 more deaths, and 80 more injuries equaling a combined total of 125 higher totals of deaths and injuries for assault weapons over non-assault weapons. Note that sample #2 includes incidents in chart that took place prior to 2000 (1984 (1), 1986(2), 1991(3)) and not used in the above calculations. The data for these incidents is as follows;

Dead - 57
Injured - 45
Total Invalid entries- 102

Now we will do a calculation comparison using the excluded figures that fall outside the suggested date range.

Non-Assault style Weapons

Deaths inside the date range
58
Deaths from 1984(1), 1986(2), 1991(3)
57

Calculation
58+57= 115

Assault Weapons

Deaths total
103

Calculation
103-115=(-12)

Injuries using the same calculations

Non-Assault style Weapons

injuries inside the date range
53
Injuries from 1984(1), 1986(2), 1991(3)
45

Calculation
53+45= 98

Assault Weapons

Deaths total
133

Calculation
98-133=(-35)

Using the criteria of Sample 2 + the data from the excluded date ranges shows a difference of 12 less deaths, and 35 more injuries equaling a combined total of 23 higher totals of deaths and injuries for assault weapons over non-assault weapons. Note that sample #2 includes incidents in chart that took place prior to 2000 (1984 (1), 1986(2), 1991(3)) which are used in the above calculations.

Conclusion

Using the data provided and the criteria recommended, the hypothesis unsubstantiated and invalid. The mathematical equations based on all the data provided by the samples clearly represents irrefutable fact that in the date range of 2012 -2016, the mortality and injury rate incurred by assault weapons is has a substantial gain over the mortality and injury rate incurred by non-assault type weapons in the date range of 2000 - 2016.

Even if we add the discounted figures from 1984(1), 1986(2), and 1991(3) the data, used as requested clearly shows that the use of assault weapons is still larger on a combined scale than non-assault weapons.

America; The Rise of the Cowardly Lion

Today I have heard several POTUS candidates screaming about "Patrolling Muslin Neighborhoods" and I have to ask myself, what exactly IS a Muslim Neighborhood? Wookie and I have traveled the U.S. extensively and I have yet to see a specific geographic area that could be identified as a Muslim Neighborhood.
I have seen neighborhoods that are predominate to a specific race [e.g. Chinese, Hispanic, Black, White, Middle Eastern, Native American, et al,.]. but the religious/sexual preference affiliations in all of them have been rather diverse.
So again I ask, what exactly is a "Muslim Neighborhood"? From what I can decipher, it is a free slate to patrol every neighborhood, or even worse, target specific neighborhoods based on race, not religious affiliation.
On 07 December 1941 The Japanese Empire attacked Pearl Harbor, effectively entering the United States into WWII (Karn, R., 2003). In February 1942, President Roosevelt, under poor advice, signed an executive order directing over 127,000 Japanese Americans to be relocated to concentration camps, simply for the crime of being of Japanese ancestry ( ushistory.org, 2016).
In 1918 Germany suffered a tremendous defeat in WWI, and in 1919 was subjected to the Treaty of Versailles, which required Germany to pay reparations to Britain and France for costs associated with the war (A Teacher’s Guide to the Holocaust, 2005). A result of these demoralizing defeats to the German people, the German Worker’s Party was established in 1919. A Teacher’s Guide to the Holocaust, (2005) states “Adolph Hitler (1889-1945) joined this small party in 1919 and rose to leadership through his emotional and captivating speeches. He encouraged national pride, militarism, and commitment to the Volk and racially “pure” Germany”.
Hitler Condemned Jews, and openly exploited prevailing antisemitic sentiments common in Europe (A Teacher’s Guide to the Holocaust, 2005). In the latter part of 1919 Hitler renamed the German Worker’s Party to the National Socialist German Worker’s Party, commonly referred to as the Nazi Party or NSDAP, which grew to 3,000 members strong by 1920 (A Teacher’s Guide to the Holocaust, 2005). In 1933 Hitler became Chancellor of Germany and served as dictator from 1934 until he committed suicide on 30 April 1945 (biography.com, 2016). During Hitler’s reign as Chancellor and Military commander of Germany, the Nazi regime implemented numerous social reforms, including anti smoking campaigns, dietary restrictions like abstinence from alcohol and meat (A Teacher’s Guide to the Holocaust, 2005; Biography.com, 2016).
One of the main concepts of the Nazi regime was a radical notion of racial hygiene. This concept prohibited marriage between Jewish and non-Jewish Germans, and revoked or denied benefits of German citizenship to any individual viewed as non-Aryan (Biography.com, 2016). The concept of racial hygiene also included eugenic policies that authorized the euthanasia of children with developmental and physical disabilities, and was later expanded to disabled adults; a concept that lead to the Holocaust in 1939 (A Teacher’s Guide to the Holocaust, 2005; Biography.com, 2016).
Listening to these two frightened little men speak today, I realize that we are heading back to the mentality of WWI and the horrific treatment bestowed upon citizens of a country by scared little men who chose to persecute people based on religious beliefs, racial profiles, and sexual orientation. I see weak, pathetic men who use Nazi tactics to scare a country into the same mentality that created the German Worker’s Party, and imprisoned Japanese Americans. The thing that scares me most is all the people in this country that believe in and openly promote this mentality. These people are my friends and neighbors, and I am forced to wonder when America the Great truly becomes America the Scared that they will not only turn on people of certain races and religious beliefs, but also on me as a gay man, or will it possibly be the Jews, the Hindu’s, or Buddhists first?

The Top 25 Things Our Dogs Ate in 2009

I posted this on another blog in January. I felt the need to move it here.

The Top 25 Things Our Dogs Ate in 2009.
So this may be a strange thing to blog about, but in know that dog lovers, especially those who have giant breed dogs will get a kick out of this.
So my husband and I own 2 beautiful blue Great Danes. We got our boy when he was 8 weeks old and our girl was adopted from a Great Dane rescue in Southern California. Our boy’s name is Butterball and our girl’s name is Wiggles, ( I commonly refer to her as Wiggles the Destroyer!)
Although Great Danes are noted as being calm, laid back and mostly lethargic, they can also be a handful during their puppy-hood, which unfortunately lasts for 2 years. Please understand, when I say unfortunately, I mean that in the most loving way and kindly use the word as a lead in to the remarkable list of carnage.
So in keeping with the title of this post and hopefully not to disappoint those who are eagerly anticipating a good laugh at our expense, here it goes.
The top 25 things our dogs ate in 2009……………
  1. Over 1,100 sq. feet of white carpet (literally pulled from the carpet tacks and destroyed in puppy rage)
  2. The linoleum that was hidden under the carpet and immediately offended our 4 legged demolition crew
  3. A beautiful modern sectional sofa
  4. The corners of an antique china hutch
  5. Legs on the matching table
  6. Legs on the matching chairs
  7. Kitchen cabinets
  8. Numerous door jams
  9. Large expanses of baseboard
  10. Chunks of the kitchen countertop (Tile)
  11. Over 20 socks
  12. At least 4 pair of shoes
  13. Several jackets
  14. Sweat shirts
  15. T-shirts
  16. 2 Comforters
  17. 6 Pillows
  18. 2 Dog beds
  19. 1 solid granite coaster
  20. Speakers to a home entertainment system
  21. At least 3 large towels
  22. Electrical Cords (thank gods we were smart enough to unplug stuff in their reach)
  23. Uncounted pieces of mail
  24. A dozen or more Starbucks cups (most of them with coffee still in them)
  25. many ¾” tile spacers
Now mind you, this is only the top 25 things I can count or remember. The actual carnage from our adorable babies extends far beyond this short list. Our dear, loving, cuddly children seem to take offense to just about anything that catches their eye and once it is in their sights, it’s very existence is doomed.
Don’t get me wrong, these are 2 animals who have been through numerous obedience classes and passed with flying colors. We are on a first name basis at more than one local Petsmart because we are always taking them toy shopping (you think real kids have expensive toy habits!). They receive an unbelievable amount of attention and want for nothing that can be legally provided to them. In short, these two wonderful creatures are our children and are denied nothing!
The good news in all of this, is that we had plans on remodeling our house in a few years. Our built in demolition crew has saved us a great deal of expense in hiring someone to do the demo for us and we actually got to speed up our plans and make some changes to the plans that included more robust materials that would withstand the most testing conditions.
