A Letter to Society
Current mood: annoyed

Before reading this article, please be aware that it was written over 4 years ago. The intention of this article was to offend everyone who takes the time to read it and make them think about what is said in the context.

I make no apologies for what I wrote or for any offense that may be taken from it. If you do not like what you read in this document, simply stop reading it.
Why do you hate me?

I am writing this article as a gay man who has been in a long term relationship of 14 years. Yes, I said 14 years. I know that sounds odd, considering that most of you consider gay men to be promiscuous sluts that are out to molest your children and destroy your society.

Well, if you think this, you are either really stupid, or well. Really, really stupid! Let me help you in the simplest way I know how, education.

First off, if you review national statistics of child molesters in the United States, you will find that 80% are white males, age 40-47, married with children, who are molesting young girls. You will also find that over 70% of reported molestation and rape cases are against women and young girls. You can try to argue this, but you will find that statistics don't lie. This fact removes your ability to intelligently argue this particular issue.

So you say homosexuality is destroying society. This is just plain stupidity in the rawest form. Gay people do not destroy society. Stupid people destroy society. To prove this fact, again I can only use simple school book knowledge. Just to make sure you all understand, I will keep it at a 6th grade level, mind you, far below my own educational background.

Let's start with the most destructive force in society, War. How many wars in history were started by gay men? Here's a hint, NONE. Throughout history, how many times has a civilization been destroyed or fallen to another because of a gay man or a group of gay men? NEVER! Historically, wars have been started over territory or religion, never over a man's sexuality.

Anyone got an intelligent argument for me yet? I didn't think so.

In reality, you fear your own menial existence. You hate gay people because we have something a "traditional" family doesn't, a life of our own. You hate us because we hide silently in your world. We own businesses that put food on your table, we educate ourselves to become the doctors that keep you alive, the lawyers that keep your rights protected, the dentists that keep the mouths of your children clean and pretty, the teachers that educate your children, and, just because I have to use a pun, the florist that makes your bride blush on her wedding day and who does not judge you when he is asked to deliver a dozen roses to your wife with an "I'm sorry note". We are also the politicians who make your rules, the judges who impartially judge the guilty, the police and fire men who protect your lives, the ministers who read your Sunday sermons. But most important, we are your brothers, your sons and your friends.

Yet we do all these things, for the most part, without the restrictions you have while you are raising your children. We are not bound to the life you live. We do not have babies nursing at the tit of our paychecks, sucking dry the mother's milk of our savings accounts. While you are changing diapers, we are taking cruises, buying new cars, electronics and homes. While you scrimp and scrounge to pay your bills, remember, one of us sits in a comfy executive chair at the company you are paying that bill to. In turn that gay man provides you that ability to earn the paycheck you use to pay that bill again next month. Viscous cycle, yes?

Just so you don't feel that I am belittling you in any way, which I am not. I will point out that those of us who own our own businesses, homes and other things are producing just as much for society as you are. We pay taxes, just like you, which in turn help pay for your child's education, welfare benefits which put food in many of your children's mouths, medical programs that keep many of your children alive. We vote on the issues that effect your every day life and your children's future.

Let's face it, I am, in every way, a major part of your daily life, a fact that I am proud of.

So after you tuck your children in for the night and get all snuggled up in your beds, I hope you can sleep easy knowing that me and all the men like me in this country are not out, lurking in the darkness like the big bad gay boogie man, plotting to convert your children and destroy your society. You'll wake up tomorrow and things will be the same. The government will still be slowly taking away your rights. The church will still be sucking on your checkbook to support the minister's mistress. Some members of the black community will continue their attempts to rape your check books as payment for what happened before your grandparents were even born and demand superior rights to you, under the guise of equality. Illegal immigrants will, for yet another day, invade your country, suck dry your social services and destroy your infrastructure. Old women will still be living out of shopping carts, eating garbage. Mentally ill people will still be roaming the streets, with no medical care. Children will once again go to bed in a cardboard box, hungry tonight. Yet, with all of these things happening, you still think I am a danger? If you really do, then I hate to say this. You live with your head in a small, dark whole in the ground! Or you're just so wrapped up in your own pathetic prejudice that you no longer have the ability to think a single rational thought. In either case, I pity the sad example your children are forced to grow up with.

So now that I have addressed your societal views, let's address religion. But before we do this, sit back, take a moment to reflect on what you just read. I said think! Not wobble your brain around in your head, grunting like a Neanderthal.

Okay. Break time is over. Let's proceed.

Now mind you, my education, earlier mentioned, was primarily at private Christian schools. I am also an Ordained Minister, so be ready for a true religious experience.

I am going to introduce you to this topic in a different manner, a role-play court structure. Not a court of United States law, but a court that shall judge based strictly on biblical law. To get a few small objections out of the way, we will first address some Christian defenses that say they follow the New Testament, not the Old. This is refuted by the sole fact that almost every Christian congregation sings from the book of Psalms and follows the 10 Commandments, both clearly writings of the Old Testament. Defense motion denied.

So now that is out of the way, I stand before the jury of this court, charged with the crime of Homosexuality. I accept this charge and am ready to prepare my defense. But wait, here is where it gets fun. You are not my prosecutor. You too shall stand as a defendant, in front of the same jury, for the charge of breaking biblical laws. Is your defense prepared? I sure hope so, because if you cannot make the jury believe that you are innocent of all charges, your sentence would be the same as mine. I shall take the role of defendant 1, you shall be defendant 2.
Now for the second twist, in the defense I have prepared, I have carefully used biblical scripture to draw the jury towards the laws that you have broken in your lifetime. Doing this shall distract them from my sin of being gay. This shall also build the prosecution's case against you. Now mind you, this may not be 100% fair to you. I am only on trial for being gay, you on the other hand, shall face several charges. How can this be? You have put me on trial my entire life for being gay. I have never judged you for anything, so I guess I am bringing all of your sins to the table to balance the scales of justice.

To answer the charge before me, Leviticus 18:22 states that Homosexuality is an abomination. For this charge, I, defendant 1 submit a plea of Innocent. My defense is simple.

It is not my choice. I knew I was gay when I was a young boy. No, I was never molested by an uncle or a step father. I was never molested by a priest or babysitter. I actually grew up riding horses, restoring and racing muscle cars, even keeping girlfriends, who never lasted because they needed a man who could love them as much as he could sleep with them. Yes, I slept with girls. Did I like it, No. Did I do it because I wanted to, No. I did it to keep my parents happy and make my already confused life a bit easier. Was I ever able to feel any form of love for these terrific girls, No. Instead, I performed like society wanted me to. A trained monkey, who could only make a girl feel that he loved her by performing sexually, in an abundance I may add. You see, I learned that lesson early. If you can't love them, give them an abundance of sex.

Now, you see, I am not some little sissy boy who played with dollies and dressed up his mommies clothes. Nobody who has ever met me can say that I am a feminine person or that I act "gay". If you were to walk up to me on the street, you would either say "he's a cool guy" or "Man, he is one tough son-of-a-bitch" , depends on what our actual encounter is about. I am not going to try to blame my parents either. Granted as parents they left a little to be desired, but as a kid, so did I. My parents provided well for me, made sure I had a wonderful education. They did all of this while dealing with their own turmoil. For accepting me and continuing to stand by me when I told them I was homosexual, for loving my partner as their own son and for everything else they have done for me, I am thankful beyond words.

I am an average American white man. I own a business along with 2 other partners. I drive a nice car, own an average home in the suburbs, sit as the captain on the neighborhood watch. I pay taxes, support my local interests, enjoy fine art, wines and music. I am known to spend a Friday night Pc Gaming with my husband and our 'straight" friends. I have never been arrested for any form of criminal act, but I admit, I have had speeding tickets and well, a couple parking tickets. So shoot me!

I wear Levi 501's and t-shirts most of the time, but do clean up quite well for special occasions. I enjoy hanging out with our buds, and am one hell of a pool player. I prefer to live a quiet lifestyle and do not spend my afternoons peering out the windows at the neighborhood boys.

To be honest, I think that type of behavior is sick. I spend Christmas with my partner, decorating our home to the hilt and allowing the neighbors to bring their little kids on tours, just to see the happiness on their little faces when they see 30 to 40 animated dolls light up, moving and singing to them. I know, you are thinking that we tell our neighbors we are just roommates. Wrong! We are very open about our relationship. All of the people in our lives know we are a couple.

For the most part, the gay community at large makes me sick. I feel that the leaders of the gay community are idiots who operate out of childish backlash towards the community that oppresses us. I am appalled by "gay pride festivals" that do nothing more than degrade gay people as a whole. Instead of having parades with old, disgusting men with their bare asses hanging out of chaps, riding a pink fluffy dildo down Santa Monica Blvd. they should be creating events that attempt to bring our communities closer together. They should throw street fairs that welcome straight people into our midst and show them that we are not different from them. I can assure you, until the gay community at large changes it's childish and repulsive ways, they do not represent me or millions like me.

I am a conservative Republican and a good American. I follow the laws of this great country, even though it has always abandoned me when I have needed it. I stand and fight for the rights of Veterans, mentally ill and the elderly. I believe the people who molest children, commit rape or pre-meditated murder should receive the death penalty. I believe that a country as great as the United States should be able to take care of the homeless, feed the hungry and provide for the elderly people who built the society we now enjoy.

I even support your right to hate me for being gay. What I don't support is your constant, hurtful actions. Your desire to have me treated like a second class citizen, a freak, a criminal. But I sure as hell support your right to openly say, "I don't like faggots".

I am a firm believer that humanity can produce many wonders and many horrors. I think that the human species is a most spectacular creation. I do not believe we are alone in the universe, but I also don't believe little grey men are abducting us in our sleep. I think there is a conspiracy theory for just about everything.

I enjoy spending quiet nights at home with the person I love. I relish in the feel of his lips when he kisses me. I cherish the feeling of the pure love we share for each other. The happiness it brings to us, the strength it gives us to survive the trials of every day life. I enjoy growing old together, sharing in the same life experiences that every couple shares.

I cherish knowing that every time I look into his eyes or hold him close that I fall even more in love with him that I was the moment before. He is my best friend, my confidant, my strength, my love, my life.

Okay.. With this all being said, I warn you. That was just my opening statement. We'll take a brief recess to allow you a few moments to once more, think about what you have just read. I know, having to think twice in one sitting may be hard for some of you.

But try it out. The brain really can multitask, or in your case, single thread process.

Okay, break time is over. If you are still here, I can only assume you are using more then one brain cell and actually have been thinking about the stuff you have read. If this is the case, I applaud you! I applaud the fact that by thinking about the words you are reading here, you unknowingly begin to prepare your own defense in this mock trial.

Although I could be mistaken, you could be sitting in front of the computer with your in-bread, redneck buds, slamming your 10th beer, spitting out mindless diatribe about how I should die. Either way, I once again must say that I pity the poor children who are or one day will grow up with you as a role model.

What the hell. You're still here and reading what I have to say. Their may be a small glimmer of hope for you yet.

Now let's change the focus of the jury. I'll start off with a few easy ones and move on from there.
I call my attention to Defendant 2's nicely trimmed hair. I submit to the prosecution and the jury that their focus should turn to Leviticus 19:27 which clearly forbids this.

Furthermore I submit to all parties that Defendant 2 is wearing clothing made of cotton/polyester blend (2 kinds of thread). A clear violation of Leviticus 19:19. Both of the above mentioned offenses being punishable by death. Under the biblical laws that govern this mock courtroom.

I am so sorry that I had to open you up to 2 different sins that carry such repercussion so quickly. I'll do my best to direct a few things towards fictional characters to make things a bit easier on you. Let's start with the good old farmer in Middle America. Struggling year after year to grow crops that support the very farm his great grandfather started. So what does he do, he starts to grow Soy along with wheat and possibly other things. Oh, I really can't use that one because that too is mentioned in Leviticus 19:19, which I have already submitted in my first exhibit.

Well that didn't work too well. I move to exhibit 2.

Knowing the average teenager ends up getting a job, usually in retail or fast food. I hate to say this, but I really have to aim this one at you again. You probably have worked in one of these fields which in turn, requires you to work on a Sunday. As a matter of fact, your minister can stand with you on this one because he too works on Sunday. I submit that you are guilty of violating the laws of Exodus 35:2, a crime punishable by death.

I can only assume by now that if this were a real trail, you would be noting that you now have 3 charges to my 1.

Okay. My defense is over. Honestly, I fear that if I were to continue, you would end up with at least 30 charges that are punishable by death. That would truly be unfair of me.

You ready for my closing argument. I think you are probably not, so I'll give you a few more moments to reflect. Yes, I am asking you to think a 3rd time in one sitting.

I have faith that some of you are good for it. But I know this is a real hard stretch for others. I can only offer my apologies for forcing the latter of you to expel so much energy on something so foreign to your regular existence.

Okay, so now that you have taken a few moments to reflect once more. I once again have to applaud your interest in what I am relaying to you. Or in some cases, I may be surprised that you are actually capable of reading. In either case, let us proceed.

I submit to all parties my closing argument.

I stand before this mock court, accused of the single crime of Homosexuality. I have clearly submitted in my opening statement that I have made every effort to live a lifestyle acceptable by society and to abide by the laws of the holy bible. I admit that I have failed this effort. But in turn I submit that by forcing myself to do these things, that I would forsake my own heart, feelings and emotions. I would live a miserable existence, in turn making those around me miserable and unhappy as well. The thought of this cruel and torturous existence would be an unthinkable horror to bestow on myself and others.

So I chose to follow my heart and to feel the happiness of true love. To know the happiness of feeling another person's hand holding mine in love and life, share my inner most thoughts and feelings with another human being. To commit my life to loving another person and being loved in return.

I chose to live my every day life, going to work, paying my taxes, supporting my community and loving the person I swore to honor and cherish until the day I die. I chose to do all the things that every red blooded man chooses to do. Find a person to share my life with, a person to love. The only difference is that person is another man, a wonderful man, who loves me as much as I love him.

So if I am to be found guilty of anything, find me guilty of loving another person. Of finding a man to share my life with, to hold me in his arms and make me feel safe from the world of hatred we endure every day.

So I ask you, if I am guilty of this. Then should you not look back unto your cherished scripture. Should you not remember such favored sayings as "do unto others as you would have done to you" or "Love thy neighbor". How about Jesus himself, who died for the sins of man? Does he not clearly say that he forgives us all?

I can only close my statement by saying one last quote. Judge not lest ye be judged. If you are to find me guilty of my crime, then you must also find every human guilty for the crimes in which they commit. If I am to be condemned then all humanity too shall be condemned.

For if it is truly a biblical court of law, let ye who is without sin cast the first stone. If this is the case, none of you are qualified to cast judgment upon my need to love and feel love.

This concludes the religious portion of my thought provoking writings. I apologize if this has caused you any undue pain and suffering, but you are free to leave at any time. Although I am glad you are still here. I also hope that you have opened your mind to the realities of the world around you. That you are beginning to see past your childish prejudice and understand that everyone deserves the basic right to love whom they choose. Whether it be a heterosexual or homosexual relationship, we all are basic human beings. We deserve the basic right to love and be loved. That our differences cannot and will not destroy the fabric of society, but only strengthen it.

If you look at the cheetah or possibly something closer to home, your redneck friends family in the backwoods, you will see how a small gene pool and limited ability to adapt to growth and changes, creates a decline in that very gene pool that keeps humanity alive.

Some of us are not meant to or are not willing to reproduce. But we are no less hungry to find true love.

So now we move to the scientific aspects of this communication. 8 out of 10 adult males have had at least one homosexual fantasy. Over half of those men have acted upon them. Whether it be an innocent jack off session with your adolescent friends, or a drunken act of letting your buddy suck your dick or vise-versa, never to be spoken of. So be careful out there. Your best friend could have gotten a blow job from one of your other best friends. Even worse, he could have given you a blowjob the last time you got drunk and passed out. One never truly knows.

With these facts in place, how dare you stand before me and say I am not deserving of the same rights you have?

Remember, the United States of America were founded with a base theory that all men are created equal, not a selected few. When you are finished reading this, you will go back to your girlfriend or wife, make love to her to once again strengthen your own ego and manhood. To prove to yourself that you are a real man and I am not. You will wake up in the morning and go to school, work or perform your duties in our armed forces. But I ask you to do society a favor, take a moment and think about one simple fact. Everything you do is for the better good of our society, our country. Well, it may come as a surprise, but millions of homosexuals are doing the very same thing. They are going to school, to work, to fight the wrongs of the world by serving in our armed forces. Just like you we do these things for the very same reason.

There is only one difference between you and me. When I come home from whatever my day brings, the arms that wrap around me and the voice that whispers "I love you" are that of a man. One simple difference separates your life from mine. Yes, I am nothing more than an average, everyday American man. Just like you. Yes, I come home from work to the arms of the person I love, just like you. Yes, I want the children who are our future to grow up in a better place, just like you. And yes, I want to see humanity continue in all its intended glory, just like you.

When you look at all of this and truly begin to understand it. I am, just like you. I was at one time in your life, your best friend, your brother, your son, your neighbor, your boss at work, the judge that dismissed your speeding ticket or the doctor that saved your child's life. I am a part of your life in ways that you may never know.

You don't hate your friend because he likes blondes and you don't or because he drinks Jack Daniels and you drink beer. Don't hate me just because I love and man and you love a woman.

The sooner society realizes that all of us are equally important, the sooner we all become human.

So who am I you ask. I am a white man, in his mid 30's. I own a business, drive a beautiful Lexus and own an average home in a suburb located in a major US city. I am your brother or son, your neighbor or the guy who signs your paycheck. I am your friend, the guy you hung out with in school. I am everywhere around you.

Have you figured out your own defense yet? I am sure that some of you have but those would be the ones that I have repeatedly given credit to throughout this article. For those of you who are too stupid to figure it out, the answer is "I'm only HUMAN". You see, according to the Bible, we are all born with original sin. It is for God to cast judgment, not some blithering idiot who is filled with hate or thinks his morals are better then someone else's.

The moral to all of this. Mind your own damn life and let others live theirs. If you do not approve of someone's lifestyle, don't interact with them. I am sure those people will be much better off by never knowing you anyway.

Feel free to post a reply to this statement. But again, try to really read and think about it first. I will not condemn any post that is left, for unlike those who will speak from small minded prejudice, I welcome the thoughts and beliefs of others. Through diversity we all grow closer to humanity.

I thank you for your time. I hope that this writing has provoked great controversy and though. I hope that you will pass this page along to your friends so they may too experience a bit of reality.
